چکیده

Background/Aim: Sarcoidosis is a multisystem inflammatory disease characterized by the infiltration of various organs. Due to lack widely-accepted biomarker, researchers have explored alternative and previously unexplored parameters in sarcoidosis. This study aimed investigate utility markers, including systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) pan-immune-inflammation value (PIV), patients with Methods: A case-control was conducted between January 2019 February 2023. The included 75 diagnosed sarcoidosis, 93 healthy individuals matched for age, sex, body mass index. Sarcoidosis-related features, such as lung stage extrapulmonary involvement, were recorded. investigated SII, PIV, procalcitonin, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein (CRP), other biochemical results, complete blood counts (including neutrophil, lymphocyte, monocyte, platelet counts, hemoglobin, mean volume [MPV], red cell distribution width [RDW]). Results: age sex similar both case control groups (P=0.258 P=0.196, respectively). patient group had significantly lower absolute lymphocyte count than (P=0.035). Patients’ RDW (P=0.007), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (P=0.028), ESR (P<0.001) values higher compared controls. No significant difference observed two regarding variables, PIV SII. There weak positive correlation stage, well MPV presence erythema nodosum. Conclusion: SII sarcoidosis correlations nodosum suggest potential relationships sarcoidosis-related features demonstrate these readily available inexpensive markers management. Comprehensive studies are needed clarify whether and/or can be used assess characteristics

Modulation of lung inflammation and immune markers in asthmatic rats treated by Portulaca oleracea

Objective: Previous studies indicated anti-inflammatory effects for Portulaca oleracea in various inflammatory disorders. In this study, the effects of P. oleracea on bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) levels of total protein (TP), Phospholipase A2(PLA2) and IgE in sensitized rats were examined. Materials and Methods: Male rats were randomly divided into six groups namely, control (group C), s...

Systemic immune-inflammation index for predicting prognosis of colorectal cancer

AIM To investigate the clinical significance of preoperative systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). METHODS A retrospective analysis of 1383 cases with CRC was performed following radical surgery. SII was calculated with the formula SII = (P × N)/L, where P, N, and L refer to peripheral platelet, neutrophil, and lymphocyte counts, respectively. The ...

Prognostic value of systemic immune-inflammation index in patients with gastric cancer

BACKGROUND Inflammation-based indexes have been used to predict survival and recurrence in cancer patients. Systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) was reported to be associated with prognosis in some malignant tumors. In the present study, we aimed to explore the association between SII and the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed data from 444 gast...

MicroRNAs as Immune Regulators of Inflammation in Children with Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a chronic clinical syndrome of brain function which is caused by abnormal discharge of neurons. MicroRNAs (MiRNAs) are small noncoding RNAs which act post transcriptionally to regulate negatively protein levels. They affect neuroinflammatory signaling, glial and neuronal structure and function, neurogenesis, cell death, and other processes linked to epileptogenesis. The aim of this ...
